XXII INFORMS Group Decision and Negotiation conference 2022 - June 12-16, 2022,
(2022-01-17)

On behalf of the organizers, the GDN INFORMS section, we invite you to the 22nd Group Decision and Negotiation 2022 conference, which will be held on June 12-16, 2022 in Moscow. This conference has been an international discussion forum for many years scientists and practitioners related to the issues of group and consensual decisions. Numerous thematic tracks include various issues related to these issues, e.g. methods of supporting negotiation decisions, behavioral aspects of negotiations, computer systems supporting group decisions and negotiations. We especially recommend the path "Preference modeling and decision support in group decision and negotiation".

This year, the conference will be a hybrid. It is planned to organize an on-site session in Moscow, as well as a session virtual for remote participants. This is a solution adopted while being aware of the uncertainties associated with travel restrictions due to the ongoing pandemic.

Conference papers are published in two volumes of post-conference publications.
Local proceedings include preliminary research reports and will be issued by the host institution of GDN 2022, the National Research University HSE in Moscow. Springer proceedings, which are a collection of ready-made scientific studies, are published in the form of the Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing (LNBIP) volume. According to the MEiN announcement, GDN conference materials published in LNBIP are included in the list of scored conference materials (70 points).

More detailed information about the conference can be found in the attached conference flyer and on the website http://gdnconference.org / gdn2022

Doug Samuelson

will present a paper (using the Skype application)

Uses and Misuses of Quantitative Methods in CurrentEvents: Implications for National and International Security

ABSTRACT.
Political campaigns have become increasingly driven by images, memes and social mediamessaging rather than policy statements. We review some prominent examples from USPresidential campaigns and discuss how confusing and disruptive messaging was used. Statistics, Operations Research, and Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning helped todevelop targeting strategies and detect opponents’ attempts to disrupt. We note how thesemethods could also be used to disrupt defense and intelligence networks and possiblymisdirect lethal force, and draw some lessons learned about how to increase national andinternational security.

KEYWORDS: Information security, information tampering, pattern analysis, political tricks, social media messaging, village stability operations, command and control

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Douglas A. Samuelson is President and Chief Scientist of his own consulting company,InfoLogix, Inc., in Annandale, Virginia. He has been a Federal policy analyst, consultant, successful high-tech entrepreneur and executive, patented inventor, political campaignprofessional, and an adjunct and research faculty member at several universities. Hisconsulting and research focus on risk-advised decision-making, machine learning, cybersecurity, wargaming, health care policy, and disaster response and preparedness. Heholds a doctorate in Operations Research from The George Washington University.

A PERSONAL NOTE ABOUT THE PRESENTER, BY IGNACY KALISZEWSKI
In the official biography of Doug Samuelson, quoted above, there is no mention on his sideactivity which nonetheless brought him probably the widest recognition - a columnist. Longbefore I had a chance to say 'Hello' to him, I had been a keen reader of his column titled'ORacle' in The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS)quarterly bulletin 'OR/MS Today'. Many OR/MS people readily admit they read each issue bystarting from his one-page feature stories about our profession ups and downs, sense, nosense, and nonsense(s). He kept writing his column for twenty years or so, entertainingpeople, amusing them, but at the end, making them to reflect. The Library of the Systems Research Research Institute maintains an extensive collection ofthe bulletin issues.

Conference ORMA (MZBO) will be held on October 24-26, 2021,
(2020-10-30)

Please be advised that due to COVID-19, the date of the The 39th Conference "Operations Research - Methods and Applications" In honour of Professor Władysław Bukietyński - ORMA 2020 (XXXIX Ogólnopolska Konferencja Naukowa im. Prof. Władysława Bukietyńskiego: Metody i Zastosowania Badań Operacyjnych’20 – MZBO 2020) has been postponed until next year. The conference will be held on October 24-26, 2021 at the Palace in Bedlewo on the edge of Chlapowszczyzna - the cradle of modern Polish agriculture.

Despite the right direction of Polish science towards the forum of international scientific exchange, there is still a strong need for scientific discussion between Polish research centers. This is the only way to create Polish research teams accepting of course the participation of interested foreign collaborators. The formation of such teams meets the expectations of the sovereignty of Polish science. Such a discussion is to be served by the MZBO 2020 conference, the purpose of which is to present the most complete possible panorama of Polish scientific considerations on operational research and its applications in economic theory and practice. An important goal of this conference is also to create a forum for young theoreticians and practitioners of the discipline to exchange ideas on the latest achievements in methods and modern applications of operations research. The future of Polish operations research lies in the hands and minds of these adepts of science. Hence, the presentations of young scientists are highly anticipated.

The organizer of the conference is the WSB University in Poznan. I am also pleased to inform you that our conference was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of WSB University in Poznan and the patronage of the Statistics and Econometrics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

More information about the conference can be found on the website http://www.mzbo2020.pl/

We will be very pleased with your participation in the Conference.

Yours faithfully,
Krzysztof Piasecki
Chairman of the Scientific Committee of the Conference
