Virtual Seminar in Operations Research WSBO 2022 - June 13, 2022,

On Monday, June 13, 2022, the Summer Virtual Seminar on Operations Research was held.
At the seminar, the papers were presented by scientists from the Department of Econometrics and Operations Research at the University of Economics in Wroclaw:
• mgr Patrycja Krzywda-Starzyk - Educational surplus - the current state of knowledge about the phenomenon in European countries
• dr Piotr Peternek, dr hab. Magdalena Ligus prof. UEW - Analysis of the technical potential and institutional environment of RES in Polish voivodeships in the context of the construction of the index of sustainable energy development of regions

The duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion were taken by prof. dr hab. Ewa Roszkowska. The discussion was attended by: prof. Marek Nowinski, dr Adam Kucharski, prof. Tomasz Szapiro, dr Malgorzata Wrzosek, prof. Ewa Konarzewska-Gubala, prof. Józef Stawicki, prof. Agnieszka Kowalska-Styczen, prof. Wiesława Przybylska-Kapuscinska, dr Milena Bieniek, dr Piotr Miszczynski, prof. Joanna Gorka and prof. Alicja Graczyk.

Prof. dr hab. Maciej Nowak, Head of the Department of Operational Research at the University of Economics in Katowice, invited all participants to the XL Polish National Scientific Conference of Professor Wladysław Bukietynski "Methods and Applications of Operational Research", which will be held on October 16-18, 2022 in Brenna, detailed information can be found at https://mzbo.ue.katowice.pl.

The seminar was held for the 16th time. 53 scientists and practitioners - representatives of 20 academic centers from all over Poland participated in it. On Monday, May 23, 2022, the Transport Virtual Seminar on Operations Research was held.
At the seminar, the papers were presented by scientists from the Department of Operations Research at the University of Lodz:
• dr Aleksandra Bartosiewicz - Analysis and evaluation of reloading processes in sea container terminals using the queue theory
• dr Radoslaw Jadczak - Models for arranging vehicle routes

The duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion were taken by prof. dr hab. Ewa Roszkowska. The discussion was attended by: prof. Wieslawa Przybylska-Kapuscinska, prof. Joanna Erdys, prof. Bogumil Kaminski, prof. Tomasz Szapiro, prof. Jozef Stawicki, prof. Konrad Kulakowski, dr Przemyslaw Szufel and mgr Adam Mrozek.
The seminar was held for the 15th time. 54 scientists and practitioners - representatives of 19 academic centers from all over Poland participated in it. On Monday, November 15, 2021, the Arras Virtual Seminar on Operational Research WSBO 2021 was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Rector of the WSB University in Poznan and the Operational Research Section of KSIE PAN.

At the seminar, scientists from the AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków and the Bialystok University of Technology presented papers:
• dr hab. Konrad Kulakowski, prof. AGH (AGH University of Science and Technology, Department of Applied Computer Science) - HRE (Heuristic Rating Estimation) a different approach to the pairwise comparison method
• dr Dariusz Kacprzak (Bialystok University of Technology) - New extension of the TOPSIS method for group decision support based on directed fuzzy numbers

Virtual Seminar in Operations Research WSBO 2021 - September 27, 2021,

On Monday, September 27, 2021, the Autumn Virtual Seminar on Operations Research WSBO 2021 was held under the honorary patronage of the Rector of the WSB University in Poznań and the Operational Research Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences. The seminar began with the memory of the organizer of the earlier WSBO - Professor Krzysztof Piasecki, who passed on 07/14/2021 The seminar for prof. Krzysztof Piasecki, very important, significantly contributing to the integration of the environment focused around broadly understood operational research and its applications, will be continued. Professor Ewa Roszkowska from the Białystok University of Technology agreed to provide scientific care for the next WSBO.

At the seminar, scientists from the Department of Operations Research at the University of Economics in Katowice presented papers:
• prof. dr hab. Marek Szopa - Optimization of decisions using quantum game theory methods,
• dr hab. Jerzy Michnik, prof. UE, Algebraic modeling of system evolution - AlModES.

The duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion were undertaken by professor Maciej Nowak. Professors Józef Stawicki, Tomasz Szapiro and Marek Nowiński took part in the discussion.

On Monday, June 21, 2021, under the Honorary Patronage of the Operations Research Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the Strawberry Virtual Seminar on Operations Research WSBO 2021 was held. At this seminar, scientists from the Department of Econometrics and Operations Research of the University of Economics in Wroclaw presented papers:
• dr hab. Daniel Puciato, prof. PO - Socio-economic correlates of health-related quality of life in people living alone in Wrocław
• dr hab. Agnieszka Stanimir, prof. UEW - Growing environmental awareness and household financial burdens.
The duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion were undertaken by Professor Marek Nowinski. The ecological contexts of the presented papers sparked a stormy discussion with professors Jozef Stawicki, Jerzy Marcinkowski and Krzysztof Piasecki. In addition to comments on the presented results, the debaters shared their views on this vital issue. It is also worth noting that the subject matter of the presented papers indicates the broad spectrum of scientific research conducted in our Operational Research centers.
Despite the prevailing culture, 35 scientists and practitioners - representatives of academic centers from all over Poland participated in the seminar. At this seminar, employees of the Department of Decision Support Methods and Cognitive Neuroscience of the University of Szczecin presented the following papers:

• dr hab. Mariusz Borawski, prof. US, Arithmetic of increments
Professor Kesra Nermend took over the seminar discussion moderator. The information on cognitive neuroscience as a new tool supporting decision-making processes was very interesting here. This creates new challenges for operations research. In the discussion after the second lecture, Professor Krzysztof Piasecki took the floor.

On Monday, February 22, 2021, under the Honorary Patronage of the Operations Research Section of the Polish Academy of Sciences, the “Kartaczowe” Virtual Seminar on Operations Research WSBO 2021 was held.

At the seminar, dr Elzbieta Majewska - an employee of the Department of Quantitative Methods of the Faculty of Economics and Finance of the University of Bialystok, gave a lecture entitled

Integration of European capital markets in the face of financial crises.

The lecture encouraged the participants to start a discussion in which professor Jerzy Marcinkowski, professor Marek Nowinski and dr Piotr Miszczynski spoke. The duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion were undertaken by professor Ewa Roszkowska. the professor has also prepared a photo e-album presenting the magic of Podlasie region. Each seminar participant was gifted with this album.

The seminar was attended by 50 scientists and practitioners - representatives of academic centers from all over Poland and Canada. On Monday, January 4, 2021, the New Year's Virtual Seminar on Operational Research WSBO 2021 was held under the Honorary Patronage of the Operational Research Section of KSIE PAN.

At the seminar, Dr. Milena Bieniek, an employee of the Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin, gave a lecture entitled

Influence of demand uncertainty on supply chain modeling with emphasis on additive uncertainty

This lecture encouraged many participants to make extensive presentations. The discussion was attended by professor Józef Stawicki, professor Tomasz Szapiro, professor Stefan Grzesiak and Mr. Adam Mrozek. Professor Tomasz Szapiro was a particularly insightful and inquisitive debater. Professor Krzysztof Piasecki took over the duties of the moderator of the seminar discussion.

Despite the holiday period leading to rest, the seminar was very popular. 42 scientists and practitioners - representatives of academic centers from all over Poland participated in it. On Monday, December 21, 2020, the “Gingerbread” Virtual Seminar on Operational Research WSBO 2020 took place. The chairman of the Operational Research Section of the Statistics and Econometrics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences proposed to the organizers to take the Section's patronage over the WSBO. This proposal was accepted by the organizers. At this seminar, employees of the Department of Applied Computer Science and Mathematics in Economics at the Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun gave the following lectures:

1.professor Sylwester Bejger - Machine learning in decision making,

2.professor Witold Orzeszko - Forecasting the covariance of rates of return using the Support Vector Machine,

3. professor Józef Stawicki - Diploma seminars on quantitative methods of economics and management - problems and experiences.

The lectures were accompanied by a lively discussion. Professor Sylwester Bejger was the moderator of the seminar discussion.

The seminar was very popular. 55 scientists and practitioners - representatives of academic centers from all over Poland participated in it. On Monday, November 16, 2020, the Inaugural Virtual Seminar in Operations Research WSBO 2020 took place. During this seminar, employees of the Department of Support and Decision Analysis of the Warsaw School of Economics gave the following lectures:

The first Virtual Seminar on the Methods and Applications of Operations Research 2020 - "MZBO in the times of pestilence",

On Monday, October 12, 2020, the First Virtual took place Seminar on Methods and Applications of Operations Research 2020 - "MZBO in times of pestilence". The meeting, organized by the WSB University in Poznań, was held under the patronage of the Rector of WSB University in Poznań, professor Józef Orczyk, and the Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The discussions began with a speech by the Rector, professor Józef Orczyk presenting the WSB University in Poznań and the emerging relations of the mainstream of the University's activity and quantitative methods supporting economy, finance and management.

During the seminar, there were two panel discussions on teaching quantitative items in COVID-19 conditions.

The first panel discussion was entitled “Learning content implemented under on-line conditions". The discussion was chaired by professor Krzysztof Piasecki from WSB in Poznań, a panel debaters were dr Grzegorz Tarczyński from the University of Economics in Wrocław, dr Przemysław Szufel from the Warsaw School of Economics and professor Tomasz Wachowicz from University of Economics in Katowice.

The second panel discussion was entitled "Forms of teaching implemented under on-line conditions”. The discussion was chaired by professor Ewa Roszkowska from the University of Białystok, and the panel participants were professor Marcin Anholcer from the University Economics in Poznań, professor Grzegorz Bejger from the Nicolaus Copernicus University and dr Radosław Jadczak from the University of Lodz.

The two panels were separated by a lecture: "University relations with the environment in conditions COVID 19 ”delivered by professor Tomasz Szapiro from the Warsaw School of Economics.

After the panel discussions, a meeting of the INFORMS Polish Section took place. Chaired by professor Bogumił Kamiński from the Warsaw School of Economics. Subjects of discussions were formal matters and the lecture "The use of robust optimization methods in protection against floods ", delivered by Dr. Krzysztof Postek of Delft University of Technology.

The whole Seminar ended with a meeting of the Operations Research Section Committee of Statistics and Econometrics of the Polish Academy of Sciences, chaired by the professor Tadeusz Trzaskalik.

The seminar was very popular. There were participated over 60 scientists and practitioners - representatives of academic centers from all over Poland and abroad. The following were represented: Delf University of Technology, Systems Research Institute of Polish Academy of Sciences, State Higher Vocational School in Suwalki, SGH Warsaw School of Economics, University of Economics in Katowice, University of Economics in Krakow, Poznan University of Economics and Business, Wroclaw University of Economics, University of Bialystok, University of Lodz, Nicolaus Copernicus University in Torun, University of Opole, University of Szczecin, University of Silesia in Katowice, Bialystok University of Technology, Poznań University of Technology, Warsaw University of Technology, Wrocław University of Technology, Poznań University of Life Sciences, WSB University in Poznan.

The seminar was organized by professor Krzysztof Piasecki and dr Anna Łyczkowska-Hanćkowiak from the WSB University in Poznan and dr inż. Michał Stasiak from the University Economics in Poznan.

According to the participants opinion, the First MZBO Virtual Seminar fulfilled their expectations. Today we know that further such online scientific meetings will take place. We will call them 'Virtual Seminars of Opertions Research - WSBO'. Our seminars will be held under the patronage of the Operational Research Section of the Statistics and Econometrics Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The coming November 16 this year at 5 pm we will be hosting our mates from Warsaw, who will present the results of their research.
