From the airport to the hotels

By TAXI This is the recommended way of getting to your hotel. Please take a taxi of one of three official airport taxi corporations: MPT (phone: 919), Sawa Taxi (phone: 644 44 44) and Merc Taxi (phone: 677 77 77). The most popular and widely available is MPT. Their cabs are standing just outside the arrival hall. There are also their stands inside the arrival hall where you can arrange for a cab accepting credit card payments etc. The price for the ride to the downtown depends on the traffic intensity, but should not exceed 40 PLN (equivalent to less than 10 USD).
DO AVOID other taxi drivers who may try to offer you their services already inside the arrival hall - they will charge you essentially higher.

By the public transport Just outside the arrival hall there is the final bus stop of the line number 175. It will take you to the downtown. This line is quite convenient for getting to the Hotel Harenda. It takes around 30-40 minutes to get there. The buses go every 10-15 minutes. You have to leave the bus at the University bus stop (ca. 21st stop from the airport), that is located next to the University of Warsaw campus (see the plan). Then, just behind you, you will see the Palais Staszic (the conference venue). Going in its direction, after ca. 50 meters you turn left (in front of the Copernicus monument) and after another 50 meters you get to the Hotel Harenda.
In order to reach the Hotel Warszawa you have to leave the bus 175 at the Ordynacka bus stop (one stop earlier than the University bus stop). Then, you are in the Nowy Swiat/Krakowskie Przedmiescie street. Go ahead until the junction with the Swietokrzyska street. You will be then just behind the Palais Staszic. Turn left and go along the Swietokrzyska street (on its left side) and after ca. 200 meters you will reach the Hotel Warszawa.
The ticket price is 2,40 PLN (ca. 0,55 USD). The ticket for the luggage is 2,40 PLN per piece. You have to buy the tickets in advance at the kiosk (selling newspapers etc.) - at the airport there is a kiosk located in the arrival hall. Sometimes it is also possible to buy the tickets on the bus, at the driver (slightly more expensive).
Beware of the pickpockets.

From the Central Railway Station (Warszawa Centralna, in Polish) to the hotels

By TAXI This is the recommended way of getting to your hotel, but you have to take the MPT (phone number 919 painted on the cabs) corporation taxi.

By the public transport Take the bus number 175 (bus stop at the Marriott Hotel) or 174 (bus stop near the junction of Aleje Jerozolimskie street and Jana Pawla II street, northbound). Leave the bus on the 4th stop (line 175) or 3rd stop (line 174). Then, you are at the junction of the Swietokrzyska street and Nowy Swiat/Krakowskie Przedmiescie street. See the plan .

From the hotels to the Palais Staszic (the conference venue)

From the Hotel Harenda Just leave the hotel and go ca. 50 meters towards the Copernicus monument. Then, you will find yourself in front of the Palais Staszic.

From the Hotel Warszawa Leave the hotel and go along the Swietokrzyska street towards Nowy Swiat street (i.e., eastwards). After ca. 200 meters, at the junction Swietokrzyska street and Nowy Swiat/Krakowskie Przedmiescie street pass the latter and then pass the Swietokrzyska street. You will find yourself in front of the Palais Staszic. The entrance is on the other side of the building, thus go along Nowy Swiat/Krakowskie Przedmiescie street and take the main entrance.
